London : It has been revealed in the recent report that the UK army has neither missiles nor submarines, then how will it compete with Russia’s army. For this reason, the concerns of the PM of UK have started increasing. A report in the UK Parliament has troubled Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This report has raised questions on the capability of the British forces. The strength of the forces has been evaluated in the report.
This report has come at a time when Ukraine and Russia are face to face. It clearly states that Britain lacks a Tier-1 armed force or the firepower required to defend the country against countries such as Russia and China. The things written in it are very serious and according to experts, Sunak needs to seriously consider it.
The report says that the UK forces are completely hollow. Because the fund given in the name of modernization program was less for it. It exposed deficiencies in the capability of the British forces. According to this, the forces have such equipment which has become very old. At the same time, they lack the necessary air and missile defense capabilities, insufficient ammunition, lack of close support units, as well as a severe shortage of air transportation.
Here, this report of the Defense Committee of the House of Commons is being termed as an eye-opening truth. It has been said in the report that many NATO countries are aware that they do not have the ability to produce defense on a large scale equal to Russia. The committee has been given evidence from the think-tank, the Human Security Centre, which casts doubt on the preparedness of UK forces on a war footing. In April 2023 the British Parliament began ascertaining the preparedness of the forces.
The committee was informed by the think tank about the delay in key programs such as the Type-26 frigate, the Astute-class submarine and the Fleet Solid Support Shift programme. The British military also has a severe shortage of submarines, helicopters and Royal Marines. Because of this, the forces here are not at all ready for war. The Air Force i.e. the Royal Air Force is completely scattered. Air patrolling and airborne capabilities are zero. The Royal Air Force simply does not have the resources to respond to enemy air defences.
