The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will confer the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2014 at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow (October 23, 2015) at 1800 hrs.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships (Akademi Ratna Sadasyata) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) are recognized as the most coveted national honours bestowed on performing artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of performing arts. The large body of practitioners, gurus and scholars in the performing arts honoured by the Akademi represents the nation’s highest achievement in music, dance and drama.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi was created as the apex body in the country for the promotion and preservation of the performing arts of the country. One of the important activities of the Akademi has been to give recognition and honour to artists through the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards.
