Today marks a historic day for Bangalore’s infrastructure and transportation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifts the city two major connectivity projects — the Yellow Line Metro and the Bangalore-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express. These long-awaited developments promise to transform travel efficiency, reduce congestion, and enhance regional connectivity for millions of passengers.


Prime Minister’s Schedule and Inauguration Details

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, PM Modi arrived at HAL Airport at 10:30 am to commence the day’s events. His first engagement was at the KSR Bangalore Railway Station, where he flagged off the Bangalore-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express. This high-speed, state-of-the-art train is expected to significantly cut travel time between the two cities, offering unmatched passenger comfort and reliability.

In addition, the Prime Minister also virtually flagged off two other Vande Bharat trains:

  • Amritsar-Katra Vande Bharat Express

  • Nagpur-Pune Vande Bharat Express

These services will boost national rail connectivity, benefiting multiple states simultaneously.


Yellow Line Metro: A Game-Changer for Bangalore

The Yellow Line Metro, stretching 19.15 km with 16 strategically located stations, is a critical addition to Bangalore Metro’s network. Built at a cost of ₹5,056.99 crore, it connects key residential, business, and industrial hubs, making daily commutes faster, more reliable, and eco-friendly.

After the train flag-offs, PM Modi travelled by metro from RV Road Metro Station to Electronic City Station, personally experiencing the modern infrastructure and efficiency of the new Yellow Line. The ride symbolically highlighted the government’s commitment to sustainable urban transportation.


Metro Phase-3: The Orange Line Vision

At 12:50 pm, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3 (Orange Line) at IIIT Bangalore. This ambitious project will add 44.65 km to Bangalore’s metro network at an estimated cost of ₹15,611 crore.

The Orange Line is set to further strengthen connectivity between peripheral areas and central business districts, ensuring Bangalore’s public transport system keeps pace with its rapid urban growth.


Bangalore-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express: Speed and Comfort
