harsuguda, Odisha: Addressing a public rally in Jharsuguda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted Odisha’s development under the “double-engine” governance model and launched several transformative projects.
PM Modi said,
“One and a half years ago, during the assembly elections, the people of Odisha resolved to move forward with a new goal — ‘Developed Odisha.’ Today, work has begun on projects worth thousands of crores for Odisha and India. From today, a new avatar of BSNL has emerged with the launch of indigenous 4G services.”
BJP Government Focused on the Poor
PM Modi emphasized that the BJP government serves and empowers the poor, providing basic amenities to marginalized communities, including Dalits, backward classes, and tribals.
“So far, over 40 million pucca houses have been provided to poor families across India, and thousands more are under construction in Odisha,” the Prime Minister said.
Boosting Industry and Self-Reliance
On India’s self-reliance goals, PM Modi added:
“Our aim is to make India independent in everything, from chips to ships. A huge industrial zone is being developed from Paradip to Jharsuguda. We have approved a ₹70,000 crore package for shipbuilding, which will bring ₹4.5 lakh crore investment and generate millions of jobs for our youth.”
Education and Skill Development Investments
PM Modi also highlighted investments in education and skill development:
“Skilled youth and a research-friendly environment are essential for a self-reliant India. Under the new Merit scheme, thousands of crores will be spent on technical education institutions, ensuring youth do not need to migrate to big cities for quality education.”
Criticism of Congress
PM Modi criticized the previous Congress regime, saying:
“When Congress was in power, employees, traders, and businessmen paid taxes even on earnings up to ₹2 lakh. Today, under the BJP, income up to ₹12 lakh is tax-free, ushering an era of double savings and double earnings.”
Odisha Development Projects & Antyodaya Housing Scheme
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised PM Modi’s focus on Odisha, highlighting key projects such as the Amrit Bharat train, semiconductor park, and skill development programs.
PM Modi also distributed approval orders to 50,000 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Housing Scheme, aimed at providing pucca houses and financial assistance to widows, persons with disabilities, and natural disaster victims.
The event saw participation from Chief Ministers and Union Ministers from eight states virtually joining the Prime Minister’s program.
Odisha moves forward under the twin engines of central and state governance, with a vision of development, self-reliance, and empowerment of every citizen, PM Modi concluded.
