Gujarat, November 15 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated a series of major tribal development initiatives in Gujarat, coinciding with the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas and the 150th birth anniversary of iconic freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
As part of the state’s push toward eco-friendly mobility, the Prime Minister flagged off 250 electric buses, marking a significant expansion of sustainable transport in tribal regions. He also launched and laid foundation stones for infrastructure projects worth ₹1,500 crore, including road upgrades, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and community-centered development works.
Addressing a large gathering, Modi said that the government’s tribal-focused initiatives are rooted in the principles of empowerment, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability. He emphasized that Adivasi communities have made invaluable contributions to India’s cultural and freedom movements, and must remain central to the nation’s development priorities.
The Prime Minister paid floral tributes to Birsa Munda, calling him a symbol of resistance, self-respect, and tribal pride. He noted that Janjatiya Gaurav Divas serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by tribal heroes and the need to uplift marginalized populations through modern infrastructure, education, and skill development.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from local leaders, tribal organizations, and community members, many of whom praised the government’s efforts to expand access to connectivity, clean energy, and basic amenities in underserved regions.
Officials said the newly launched projects are expected to boost employment, enhance mobility, and strengthen essential services across Gujarat’s tribal belts, reinforcing the government’s commitment to balanced regional growth.
