Government Extends PLI Scheme for Textiles Sector to December 31

PLI Scheme Deadline Extended

The Government of India has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the textile sector. The new deadline is now December 31.

The Ministry of Textiles said the decision was made after receiving a large number of applications and growing interest from the industry.


Objective of the Scheme

The PLI scheme for textiles, notified on September 24, 2021, aims to:

  • Promote the production of man-made fibre (MMF) apparel and fabrics

  • Encourage manufacturing of technical textiles products in India

  • Boost competitiveness in the global textile value chain


Industry Response & Investments

So far:

  • 74 companies have been selected as beneficiaries under the scheme

  • These companies have committed investments worth ₹28,711 crore

  • The scheme continues to attract new investors and participants

Encouraged by this momentum, the government has provided additional time for potential investors to apply and participate.
