PAN card can still be linked with Aadhaar, penalty will have to be paid

New Delhi . Even though the last date to link PAN card with Aadhaar card has passed. But there is still a chance to link. However, penalty will have to be paid for this. It may be noted that for a long time, information was being issued to PAN card holders that they need to link PAN with Aadhaar card by June 30.

Failure to do so may deactivate the PAN card holder’s card. In particular, taxpayers cannot use the facilities related to income tax. Not only this, TDS and TCS of such taxpayers will be deducted at a higher rate, as it is mandatory for all PAN holders as per the Income Tax Act, 1961.

If you are also among those users who have not been able to link PAN card with Aadhaar card even till the last date, then you do not have to worry, you can activate the PAN card.

The method is that the PAN card holder will first have to pay the penalty on the NSDL portal. User has to make payment under challan number ITNS 280 for major head 0021 and under minor head 500. Recently, in a latest tweet, the Income Tax Department has clarified the position on Aadhaar-PAN linking. The Income Tax Department has said that those card holders who have paid the late fee till June 30 for linking Aadhaar card with PAN card, but still the PAN card has not been linked, the department will consider such a case.
