Pakistan to Export $200 Million Worth of Meat to Malaysia, PM Shahbaz Sharif Announces

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced a major meat export deal with Malaysia on Monday, potentially worth $200 million (₹18 billion). The announcement came during his three-day official visit to Malaysia, where he praised Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, describing Malaysia as “like a second home.”

Meat Export Deal Details

Shahbaz Sharif stated that Malaysian authorities and importers are keen to import meat from Pakistan. The deal will ensure that Halal certification requirements set by Malaysian customs and food authorities are strictly followed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the export quota will be regulated at market prices to ensure fair trade. He said, “I assure you that we will make every effort to meet your terms and conditions. This way, we will not only achieve the $200 million quota but also increase it over time.”

Positive Outlook

During his visit, Shahbaz Sharif expressed optimism about the growing trade ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, adding, “When I go back from here tomorrow, I will go back with more information, more impressed, and more confident.”

The deal is expected to strengthen bilateral trade and create new opportunities for Pakistani exporters in the Halal meat market, while supporting Malaysia’s growing demand for high-quality meat products.
