Over 2000 doctors discuss medical advancements in the year 2010

A day long medical conference “eMedinews Revisiting 2010 was organized at Maulana Azad Medical College and was attended by over 2000 doctors.

In her message, Dr. Girija Vyas, Chairperson, National Women Commission showed her concern about the risk of heart diseases amongst the women. She also said that it is a matter of concern that more women are getting heart attack before the menopause.  In the urban population, cancer of the breast today has sur passed cancer of the cervix. Lifestyle amongst women needs to be changed so that heart diseases and cancers can be reduced in the women.

Chief Guest of the function, Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Chief Secretary of Delhi said that enough awareness needs to be created about lifestyle disorders including the new epidemics of the society which are pot belly obesity, diabetes, depression, atrial fibrillation and heart attack in the young. Mr. Mehta said that diabetes is one disease which if controlled in time can prevent future generations getting heart attack and paralysis.

Mr. Sandeep Dikshit, Member of Parliament, in his message said that as per the new guidelines, people should devote 2 ½ hours a week to exercise.

Mr. J.P. Aggarwal, Member of Parliament and President, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee said that we need to get prepared in the coming year in such a way that dengue and chikungunya do not bother us.
