Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa has been forced onto backup and emergency power systems after Russian strikes severely damaged key energy infrastructure late Sunday night, Ukrainian officials confirmed. The attack triggered widespread outages, affecting residential districts, transport services, and hospital operations.
Emergency crews worked through the night to restore critical lines, but authorities warned that full power restoration could take time due to the scale of the damage. Backup generators have been deployed across essential facilities, including medical centers and water supply stations, to keep operations running.
Ukrainian military officials stated that the strikes targeted multiple substations and transformer hubs, marking one of the most disruptive attacks on Odesa’s energy network in recent months.
