NIA’s Actions Are Transparent and Impartial, Says Union Minister
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai has categorically rejected allegations that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has targeted a specific group. Rai emphasized that these claims are completely baseless and lack any factual foundation. Since its inception in 2008, the NIA has never received any formal complaints regarding biased action. The minister underscored that only individuals who harbor sympathies for terrorists or have vested interests in defending such elements are making such accusations.
Modi Government’s Strong Stance Against Terrorism
The minister reaffirmed that the Modi government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, terrorist activities have seen a drastic reduction of 71%, a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to national security. Rai stated that in this government, terrorists either end up in jail or face dire consequences. He pointed out that in previous administrations, terrorists were glorified and treated with leniency, but the current government has taken decisive measures to eliminate terrorism.
NIA’s High Conviction Rate and Role in Counter-Terrorism
To highlight the effectiveness of NIA, Rai cited its impressive conviction rate of 95.44%. The agency has been instrumental in curbing terror-related activities, including terror financing cases, where it has achieved a 100% conviction rate. The NIA’s credibility stems from its transparent and unbiased approach to investigating cases linked to national security.
Special Courts Strengthen NIA’s Functioning
To ensure a swift and impartial judicial process, the government has set up special courts dedicated to handling NIA cases. Currently, there are one each in Jammu and Ranchi, along with 30 additional courts across the country that hear cases under NIA jurisdiction. These courts reinforce the government’s dedication to expediting justice in terror-related offenses.
NIA Expands Investigations to Foreign Attacks
As part of its growing responsibilities, the NIA is also investigating attacks on Indian diplomatic missions abroad. Recent incidents, including attacks on the Indian High Commission in London, the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, and the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, have drawn serious attention. Rai stated that the NIA is actively probing these cases to identify the perpetrators and their underlying motives. He assured that the findings of these investigations would soon be made public.
Crackdown on Terrorist Organizations and Individuals
The Modi government has taken decisive action against terror outfits and individuals involved in terrorism. Since 2014, nine organizations have been designated as terrorist groups under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). In total, 23 organizations have been declared illegal, further strengthening counter-terrorism efforts.
List of Key Terrorism-Related Investigations by NIA
Nityanand Rai disclosed that the NIA is currently investigating multiple cases, including:
- 23 cases of human trafficking linked to terrorism financing.
- 30 cases of bomb blasts that targeted civilians and security forces.
- One major case of cyber terrorism, which posed a serious threat to national security.
These investigations have played a crucial role in dismantling terrorist networks and preventing future attacks.
The Purpose and Mission of NIA
Rai reaffirmed that the primary mission of NIA is to conduct impartial investigations concerning national security. The agency was established to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in handling terrorism-related cases. Unlike baseless allegations, NIA operates within a strict legal framework to bring terrorists to justice.
Conclusion: A Strong and Secure India Under Modi Government
The Modi government has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to national security. The NIA’s exceptional track record, its high conviction rate, and the zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism have significantly reduced terrorist activities in India. The government remains focused on eliminating terrorism, ensuring justice for victims, and protecting the nation’s sovereignty.
