Unprecedented 10th Term: Nitish Kumar’s Mega Oath Ceremony to Turn Gandhi Maidan Into a Power Hub

Patna: Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time after being unanimously chosen as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) legislative party. The decision came during a meeting of newly elected MLAs from NDA partners, including the BJP and other allies, marking a decisive endorsement of Kumar’s leadership following the alliance’s electoral victory.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for November 20 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where an elaborate event is being planned. A high-profile guest list—including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers of NDA-governed states—is expected to attend, reflecting the political significance of the occasion.

Ahead of the ceremony, Kumar will tender his resignation and submit formal letters of support from NDA legislators to the Governor, paving the way for the formation of the next government. Discussions on cabinet composition are underway, with sources suggesting that up to 36 ministers could be inducted alongside the Chief Minister as part of a broad-based coalition structure.

This milestone marks yet another chapter in the veteran leader’s long and dynamic political journey, characterized by strategic alliances, governance reforms, and a sustained emphasis on Bihar’s development agenda. The oath-taking is also being viewed as a major morale boost for the NDA in the state, setting the stage for the coalition’s next phase of governance.
