NIA Team Attacked in West Bengal: Escalating Tensions and Two Officers Injured

West Bengal : The attacks against central investigative agencies in West Bengal are showing no signs of stopping. After the ED team was targeted in Sandeshkhali, now news of attack on NIA is coming. According to sources, now the team of central agency NIA was attacked in Bhupatinagar of East Medinipur. As per the instructions of Calcutta High Court, the NIA team went for investigation on Saturday. It is alleged that the investigators’ car was vandalized.

The NIA claimed that the two men were attacked while being taken for questioning. NIA officials had gone to Bhupatinagar to investigate the blast that took place in the area. When the NIA team was taking two people away from here, it is alleged that at the same time the villagers surrounded the NIA vehicle and attacked the car, demanding the release of both of them. During this time some people also pelted stones at the vehicle. According to sources, two NIA officers have suffered minor injuries in this attack.

NIA has filed a complaint with the police in this matter. Police have said that a large contingent of Central Police Force has been deployed in Bhupatinagar. Let us tell you that on December 2, 2022, a terrible bomb explosion took place at around 11 pm in Nairabila village of Arjun Nagar Gram Panchayat of Bhagwanpur 2 block of Bhupatinagar police station. Trinamool booth president Rajkumar Manna, his brother Devkumar Manna and Vishwajit Gayen were killed in the incident.

On receiving the information, the police went to the area and registered the case and started investigation. Later, on the orders of the court, NIA took over the investigation of the incident. The NIA was attacked when it went to investigate the blast incident on the orders of the court.
