Washington, D.C., : U.S. officials have given NATO a hard 2027 deadline: Europe must take the lead on conventional defense — intelligence, missiles, troops, cyber — or America will pull back from key coordination, Pentagon sources confirmed this week.

Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau called the demand “dead serious,” praising Poland as the model ally for spending over 4% of GDP. Most European nations still fall short of even the old 2% target.

The ultimatum comes as Europe is already excluded from ongoing US-Russia Ukraine talks, intensifying fears that Trump’s “America First” policy could fracture the alliance.
