Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and I&B, Shri Arun Jaitleytoday inaugurated the Multi Media Exhibition “Saal Ek Shuruaat Anek” organized by DAVP under the aegis of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jaitley said that the multimedia exhibition based on the given theme was an attempt to showcase the achievements and policy initiatives across different sectors. The multimedia mode had been adopted to sensitize the people on the different initiatives taken across critical sectors. As part of the outreach initiative, the I&B Ministry would highlight the said initiative across State Capitals and rural areas. This exercise was being undertaken in view of the focused approach in disseminating information through the different media units. Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State for I&B, Shri Bimal Julka, Secretary (I&B), DG: DAVP and senior officers of the Ministry were present on the occasion.
Elaborating further, Shri Jaitley said that under the current initiative, exhibitions of the similar kind would be organized in all State Capitals along with one more city / site in each state except Bengaluru (Bengaluruwill be covered in second phase as model code of conduct is in place for local body elections in the state). The exhibition in the state capitals would commence tomorrow and end on the first of June. Under the Phase-II of the exhibition outreach programme, 30 sites had been selected with varying dates of commencement. The campaign on such sites would commence around 7th June and end on 20th June. In all 60 static multimedia exhibitionare expected to be organized. As part of the rural outreach programme to sensitize the rural masses, DAVP was also deploying 345 mobile exhibitions to reach out to 643 districts in the country for a period of one month. Shri Jaitley also flagged off the Multi Media Mobile Van from the exhibition site along with Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore.
The Minister also highlighted the key features of the proposed KisanChannel which would be launched tomorrow by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Shri Jaitley specifically mentioned the key benefits that would accrue to the farming community in terms of knowledge, understanding of issues, matters related to meteorology and the new technologies being adopted in the agriculture sector.
