CommunicAsia2010, the most established infocomm technology (ICT) event in Asia, will be held in Singapore from 15 to 18 June 2010 at the Singapore Expo.  The event brings the most comprehensive showcase of convergent technologies for the global infocomm, media and broadcasting industries and will feature new attractions for exhibitors and visitors from the region.

Indian Telecom Sector Maintains Upward Growth

The telecom sector in India is one of the fastest rising sectors. The industry has maintained its growth momentum despite a slowdown seen across various sectors. The Indian telecommunications market grew by 51.3 per cent to serve more than 525 million wireless subscribers at the end of 2009, up from 347 million a year earlier, according to the Telecoms Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).1 With the increase in the number of players and reduced tariffs, this number is expected to soar.

On the broadband front, according to a report by TRAI, India had 7.40 million broadband subscribers and an overall teledensity of 44.87 at the end of October 2009. This represents an increase of 2.35 million broadband subscribers and 13.37 per cent increase in teledensity from the same period in 2008.

All these factors create a favourable platform for Indian telecom enterprises to participate in CommunicAsia2010.  With its impressive growth, India is one of the key Asian markets that solution providers from across the world will be looking to penetrate through their participation in CommunicAsia2010.

CommunicAsia, together with BroadcastAsia, is expected to boast at least 58,000 square metres of exhibition space.  Visitors to the shows this year will get to witness the latest technology innovations demonstrated by 2,000 multi-national corporations and small and medium enterprises.  34 international group pavilions will be spread across the show floor, reflecting the push by governments and industry bodies to help small and medium enterprises promote their homegrown capabilities into Asia and beyond.

“The unique co-location of CommunicAsia2010 and BroadcastAsia2010 presents the only platform of its kind that aptly addresses the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting and brings together business leaders, government officials and trade professionals to network, discuss critical industry issues and explore opportunities for growth,” said Ms. Agnes Leung, Senior Project Manager of Communications Events from show organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services.
