Monsoon rains have tightened their grip across the country, turning relief showers into disaster in many states. From the hilly regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to the plains of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, heavy downpours are creating serious challenges. The Meteorological Department has issued multiple alerts as landslides, floods, and waterlogging continue to disrupt daily life.
Delhi-NCR Weather Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and its surrounding areas. Rainfall is expected in East Delhi, Shahdara, Central Delhi, and parts of South-East Delhi. Some regions of NCR may also witness heavy downpours, leading to traffic jams and waterlogging.
Flood Situation in Uttar Pradesh
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh are facing torrential rain and rising river levels. Mathura, Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Mainpuri, Etawah, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Jhansi, and Lalitpur are on high alert. Floods have already affected Ballia, Bahraich, Ghazipur, Gonda, Badaun, and Varanasi, leaving thousands of people stranded.
Bihar Under Rain Threat
In Bihar, heavy rain is expected in Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Sitamarhi, Araria, and Madhubani. Southern districts including Gaya, Jamui, Aurangabad, and Nawada may also receive intense showers. Flood-hit areas such as Bhojpur, Khagaria, Begusarai, and Bhagalpur are already struggling with waterlogging and rising river levels.
Landslide Risk in Uttarakhand
Hilly states are witnessing the worst impact of monsoon rains. In Uttarakhand, warnings have been issued for Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital, and Pithoragarh. Landslides, falling debris, and blocked roads are creating major travel disruptions and risk to life.
Madhya Pradesh Faces Torrential Rain
Madhya Pradesh is also on alert as heavy rains are predicted in Sehore, Dewas, Khargone, Ujjain, Betul, Chhindwara, Harda, Balaghat, and Khandwa. Rising river levels and severe waterlogging are expected in these regions.
Nationwide Monsoon Alert
Continuous rainfall across states has turned September into a season of worry. With landslides in the hills, floods in the plains, and urban waterlogging in cities, IMD has appealed to citizens to remain cautious. The department is keeping strict watch on the changing weather patterns to prevent further damage.
