The gifts symbolize the deep, historical bond between India and Russia, reflecting shared values, artistic traditions, and long-standing diplomatic warmth.
1. Finest Assamese Black Tea (GI-Tagged)
One of the highlights of the gift set was premium Assamese black tea, grown in the fertile plains of the Brahmaputra Valley. Known for its malty aroma, bold flavor, and vibrant color, this tea is produced from the Assamica variety using traditional craftsmanship.
Awarded a GI tag in 2007, this tea embodies the region’s unique terroir, climate, and artisanal expertise.
2. Hand-Carved Silver Tea Set from Murshidabad
Prime Minister Modi also gifted President Putin an exquisitely carved silver tea set crafted in Murshidabad, West Bengal—a region renowned for its Mughal-era metalwork.
The silver set reflects the shared tea-drinking culture that both India and Russia cherish.
3. Handcrafted Silver Horse from Maharashtra
A meticulously crafted silver horse sculpture, representing dignity and valor, was also included.
This artwork highlights Maharashtra’s refined metalworking heritage.
The horse’s forward-moving stance symbolizes the ever-progressing India–Russia partnership.
4. Premium Kashmiri Saffron (Kong/Jafran)
Grown in the high-altitude fields of Kashmir, this saffron is prized globally for its deep color, rich aroma, and powerful flavor.
Locally known as Kong or Jafran, Kashmiri saffron is among the world’s most valuable spices and carries India’s unique agricultural identity.
5. Handcrafted Marble Chess Set from Agra
Another standout gift was a handmade marble chess set from Agra, reflecting the region’s historic stone inlay craftsmanship.
Each chess piece, carved in contrasting tones and individually detailed, showcases India’s Mughal-era artisanal finesse blended with modern elegance.
6. Bhagavad Gita (Russian Translation)
Prime Minister Modi gifted President Putin a Russian-language edition of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, a timeless spiritual text from the Mahabharata.
The scripture, containing Lord Krishna’s teachings on duty, self-realization, and liberation, represents India’s philosophical depth and message of universal peace.
