Middle East – : Fresh tensions erupted in the Middle East as rockets were launched from Syria into Israel on Tuesday, marking the first such attack since the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded swiftly with targeted strikes and issued a stern warning to Syrian President Ahmed Al Shara, holding him directly accountable for any future aggression emanating from Syrian territory.
Daraa Becomes Flashpoint Again
The attack originated from Syria’s western Daraa province and targeted the Golan Heights region of Israel. Although the rockets landed in open areas and caused no casualties or damage, the IDF retaliated by striking suspected launch sites. Local Syrian sources confirmed loud explosions in the Daraa region, suggesting significant damage from the counter-offensive.
Mohammad Daif Brigades Claims Responsibility
An emerging militant faction named Mohammad Daif Brigades claimed responsibility for the rocket attack. The group, named after slain Hamas commander Mohammad Daif—killed in an Israeli airstrike last year—has vowed to avenge his death and escalate operations along Israel’s borders.
Syria Calls for Peace Amid Threats
Following the escalation, the Syrian government released a statement declaring its commitment to peace and denying direct involvement in the attack. However, Israel’s Defense Minister warned that any future attacks from Syrian soil would bring direct consequences for President Ahmed Al Shara’s leadership and military infrastructure.
This new development adds to the volatility across Israel’s borders and signals a possible multi-front threat, further complicating the region’s security landscape.
