Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati was a great social reformer, a true patriot who relentlessly fought against prevailing social evils, and worked for women’s empowerment through education and social harmony. This was stated by Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya in Rohtak on Saturday.
His philosophy, teachings laid special emphasis on moral values. Need of the hour is to inculcate moral and humanitarian values among students and combat social evils, added Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya while addressing the conference of scholars organized at MDU here to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati.
Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya in his inspiring address said that the research scholars of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, must do research on philosophy, works and teachings of Dayanand Saraswati along with Vedic education, and spread his message of harmony, equality and justice at national and international levels.
He said the universities must focus on developing citizens, who are humanitarian and patriotic. The Governor-Chancellor laid special emphasis on the need for character building and discipline. He lauded MDU for spreading the message of Maharshi Dayanand among the masses.
Former Vice Chancellor of Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, Dr Surender Kumar delivered the keynote address on ‘Education Philosophy of Swami Dayanand’ and explained the inclusive nature of his educational philosophy.
MDU Vice Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh in his address said that the life of Maharshi Dayanand and his contribution to humanity were really inspiring. He said that MDU is working with a definite and comprehensive plan to promote the philosophy and teachings of Swami Dayanand.
Noted Arya Samaji and Member of Parliament from Sikar, Rajasthan, Swami Sumedhanand Saraswati, and President of Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Swami Aryavesh spoke about the life and contribution of Swami Dayanand in various spheres of life.
Rohtak MP Dr Arvind Sharma and former Haryana Minister Manish Kumar Grover also shared their views on the life and contribution of Swami Dayanand, and paid their tributes to the visionary patriot.
Director, Centre for Vedic Studies, MDU, Prof Surender Kumar conducted the programme. He welcomed the dignitaries present in the programme. Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof Raj Kumar expressed the Vote of Thanks.
MDU’s Dean of Faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, eminent citizens of Rohtak, NSS and YRC volunteers, members of Arya Samaj, etc., were present on the occasion. Dr Sharanjit Kaur also graced the occasion along with Senior University functionaries, students and members of MDU’s Yajna Smiti presented a melodious song highlighting the sterling achievements of Swami Dayanand.
