This year, Mahavir Jayanti falls on April 4th. Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, was born in Kundagram, Bihar, and his childhood name was Vardhaman. He renounced the pleasures of the royal palace and went towards the forests to seek truth at the age of 30. After twelve years of severe penance in the dense forests, Lord Mahavir attained Kaivalya Gyan under the Sal tree on the banks of the Rijubaluka river.
