Kashi is the city of Lord Shiva, every festival is celebrated here with great enthusiasm. The festival of Dev Deepawali, celebrated here on the full moon of Kartik month, is very famous.
This time Kartik Purnima is on 8th October, Tuesday. Although the festival of Dev Deepawali is celebrated all over the country, but in Kashi, it is celebrated on seeing its glory. This time there is a lot of doubt in the minds of people regarding the festival of Dev Deepawali, the reason for this is the fluctuation of dates and the lunar eclipse on Kartik Purnima.
Dev Deepawali will be celebrated on 7th November due to lunar eclipse
According to Shrikashi Vidvat Parishad, Kartik Purnima will be from 3:58 pm on Monday, November 7 to 3:53 pm on Tuesday, November 8. There is also a coincidence of lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan November 2022) on November 8, due to which no auspicious work can be done on this day. According to Decision Sindhu and other astrological texts, it is not possible to celebrate any festival on November 8 due to the lunar eclipse, so it will be scriptural to celebrate this festival on the evening of November 7 in conjunction with the full moon date.
Why is the importance of Dev Deepawali in Kashi?
According to the legend, there was a mighty demon named Tripurasura. He committed many atrocities on the gods. In the end all the gods went to Shiva. Shiva killed that demon and was called Tripurari. This day was Kartik Purnima. Due to the belief of Tripurasur, all the deities came to Kashi pleased and celebrated the festival by lighting a lamp. That is why Dev Deepawali festival is specially celebrated in Kashi on Kartik Purnima.
Take bath after lunar eclipse
On Tuesday, November 8, the lunar eclipse will end at 6.20 pm. After this bath and lamp can be done. But worship related to Dev Deepawali should be done on Monday, November 7, only. This decision, taken by the scholars of Kashi, will also be applicable to religious places across the country, where the festival of Dev Deepawali is celebrated. PLC/GT
