After the success of the first-ever mega literary festival held in the city, Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) is all set to organize Literati 2014 on 7-9 November. According to the CLS Chairperson Ms. Sumita Misra, the literary activities have received tremendous flip in this region, and many young writers are emerging who look forward to the literary festivals to have their writings reviewed by their peers while getting inspired from the senior ones.
Last year Literati had over 23 outstation authors from across the country, and already we have confirmations from over 35 noted authors including Amitabha Bagchi, Vinita Dawra Nangia, Sudha Shah, Dr. Anuradha Kapur, Benoy Behl, Prof. Rukmini Bhaya Nair, Anita Nair,Meghna Gulzar, Shantanu Ray Chaudhary, Paro Anand, Navtej Johar,
Sathya Saran, Tisca Chopra, Abha Narain Lam,ba, Nivedita C.Puri, to name a few, informed Ms Misra.
This year’s Literati shall be a three-days affair with several booklaunches, panel discussions, book readings, evening entertainment programmes, book stalls, and lots of literary and cultural vignettes at the Lake Club.
Since its formation in 2012, CLS has activated the Chandigarh literary scene by hosting some of the celebrated authors including Anupam Kher,Navtej Sarna, Pavan Varma, Ketan Bhagat, Yousuf Saeed, Kamla Kapur, to name just a few, besides organizing various workshops for buddingauthors, and short-story and poetry writing competitions.
