With a view to promoting literature and creative writing in the region, Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS), a non-profit registered body, plans to organize first mega literary festival of the region, ‘Literati 2013’, on November 23 and 24, 2013. This was disclosed by Mrs Sumita Misra, Chairperson, CLS, after launching the official website of the festival www.chandigarhliterati.com at the UT Guest House here, today. Among those present on the occasion were Director, Haryana Electronics andInformation Technology Department, Mr. Vivek Atray, Mr. Madhav Kaushik, Mr. Charanjit Singh, Ms. Simrat Kaur, Ms. Suparna Puri and Khushwant S. Gill. The festival would have 17 sessions, including penal discussions. On the second day, two books written by Mr. Rahul Pandita and Mr. Jaspreet Singh would be released. Columnists, poets, lyricists, regional authors and young authors from all over the world would participate in the festival. Mrs. Misra said that Literati-2013 would serve both as a platform for talented regional writers and thinkers and also bring people face to face with world class authors. Efforts are being made to make it an annual feature, she added. Bhaskar Ghose, Prasoon Joshi, Ashok Vajpeyi, Kishwar Desai, Madhu Kishwar, Gul Panag, Meghna Pant, Rajeev Dubey, Rahul Bose, Jerry Pinto, Mohyna Srinivasan, Nandita C Puri, V.K. Karthika, Paro Anand, Krishna Shastri, Jai Arjun Singh, Manjula Rana, Govind Mishra, Bubbu Tir, Gyan Prakash Vivek, Abhisar Sharma, Irshad Kamil, Upamanyu Chatterjee, Gobind Mishra and Ashwin Sanghi would be among the participants in the festival.
