The bail hearing of ISKCON priest Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari, arrested in Bangladesh, has been postponed to next month. Chinmay Das’ bail plea was to be heard on Tuesday but due to no lawyer appearing on his behalf, the court postponed the hearing till January 2.
On Tuesday, the lawyers refused to appear on his behalf during the bail hearing, after which the Chattogram court adjourned the proceedings. The court has now fixed the next date of hearing as January 2, 2025. Let us tell you that Chinmay Das was arrested last week on charges of sedition while allegedly protesting against the increasing attacks on Bangladeshi Hindus.
According to a report, Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote has alleged that about 70 Hindu lawyers were falsely accused in a case to prevent their participation in the bail hearing of their spokesperson Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari.
At the same time, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharaman Das also wrote a post on X in this regard, he said, ‘Please pray for lawyer Ramen Roy. His only ‘mistake’ was to defend Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court. Islamists vandalized his house and brutally attacked him, and left. He is in the ICU and fighting for his life.’
At the same time, Radharaman Das has given an advice to Hindus and priests in view of the increasing violence against Hindus and ISKCON priests. Amid attacks on Hindus, ISKCON Kolkata has advised its associates and followers in the neighboring country to wipe off the tilak and hide the Tulsi garland, cover their heads and avoid wearing saffron.
However, many lawyers in Bangladesh have denied any such incident. Last month also it was claimed on social media that a lawyer defending Chinmoy Krishna Das was murdered. But investigation revealed that the slain lawyer, Saiful Islam, was an assistant public prosecutor and was not defending Chinmoy Das.
