Jerusalem : The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which commenced on October 7, has seen increasing tensions and military activities, especially with Israel’s heavy bombardment on the Gaza Strip. Amidst this turmoil, Israel now finds itself under attack from multiple fronts, including from the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah.

Indian Security Forces Step In In this intense scenario, Indian security forces have been deployed to ensure peace and security along the southern border between Israel and Lebanon. These forces are not there as a direct combatant but are part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force. The contingent consists of a significant number of Indian personnel, and they are working in collaboration with other international forces to maintain peace in the region.

Hezbollah’s Counterattacks Hezbollah, in retaliation for the death of Lebanese journalist Issam Abdullah and other civilians, has initiated aggressive actions against northern Israel. The group claimed responsibility for firing rockets at an Israeli army post in Shatoula. Eyewitnesses have confirmed the death of journalist Abdullah due to Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon, which also resulted in multiple injuries.

International Intervention The United States has shown its support for Israel by deploying two major aircraft carrier warships, the USS Gerald R Ford and the USS Eisenhower, to the Mediterranean Sea. This move aims to bolster Israel’s maritime activities, especially its naval blockade against Hamas.

Gaza’s Dire Situation Mahjoob Zaveri, the director of the Gulf Studies Center at Qatar University, highlighted the grim situation for civilians in Gaza. Due to the intense bombardment by Israel, many areas in Gaza have become unsafe. As a result, people are seeking refuge in locations where their family members reside. However, even the southern parts of Gaza are now under threat, leaving civilians in an extremely vulnerable position.

As the conflict escalates, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that ensures peace and safety for all affected parties.
