Weather Forecast 12 October 2025: Snowfall in Kedarnath, Delhi-NCR Sees Temperature Drop, Rain in South India
📰 Full Weather Report:
New Delhi, October 12, 2025 (Desk Report):
Northwest India is beginning to feel the chill much earlier than usual this year. Light to moderate rainfall and snowfall have been reported across the hilly states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while the plains are witnessing a noticeable dip in temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a western disturbance has triggered early winter-like conditions in the northern belt, with snow accumulation reported in Kedarnath Temple and nearby high-altitude regions. The night temperature in several hilly towns has dropped to near freezing levels, signaling the early onset of winter.
🏔️ North India Weather Update:
The northern plains and hilly regions have seen a clear shift in weather patterns over the past week.
Delhi-NCR: The minimum temperature has dropped below 20°C, making evenings and nights noticeably cooler.
Chandigarh: Recorded a minimum of 18.1°C.
Hisar (Haryana): 17.6°C, slightly below the seasonal average.
Faridabad: 17.7°C, marking the lowest temperature this month.
Uttar Pradesh: Etawah recorded 17.6°C, while Meerut registered 18.8°C.
IMD officials say the current western disturbance will likely persist for the next 48 hours, maintaining the cool breeze and clear skies in most of North India.
“The early snowfall in the upper Himalayas and cold winds from the western disturbance are behind this sudden drop in temperature,” said an IMD scientist in New Delhi.
🌧️ Eastern & Southern India Weather:
While the north chills, monsoon rains continue in the eastern and southern states, extending this year’s wet spell.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely in:
Maharashtra (Konkan & Vidarbha regions)
Gujarat (South districts)
Madhya Pradesh (Eastern and central parts)
Jharkhand and Odisha (Isolated rain spells)
Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana (Moderate showers expected)
IMD predicts that the retreating monsoon will withdraw completely from peninsular India by October 20–22, but sporadic rainfall will continue in coastal areas for the next few days.
🧊 Cold Wave Outlook & Seasonal Forecast:
Meteorologists suggest that the northwestern plains may experience an early onset of winter this year.
There’s a 70% chance of below-normal night temperatures in northern states during the second half of October, according to the IMD extended forecast.
“By mid-November, North India could see a stronger cold wave compared to the last two years,” said the IMD’s long-range forecast bulletin.
