North India: Dense Fog and Bitter Cold

Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh witnessed thick morning fog, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting normal life. The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover around 9°C.

In the hill states of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, a western disturbance is likely to trigger heavy rainfall and snowfall, potentially impacting road connectivity in higher altitudes.

Central & East India: Cold Wave Alert

Parts of Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are under a cold wave alert for the next 48 hours.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar continue to face severe cold and persistent fog, with red alerts issued for select districts in Bihar.

South India: Cloud Cover and Rain Expected

Southern states may see relief from dry conditions.

  • Bengaluru and Chennai are expected to remain cloudy with light rain

  • Thiruvananthapuram may experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms

  • Cities like Hyderabad and Amaravati could see morning haze, with daytime temperatures ranging between 28°C and 31°C

Air Quality: Severe in Delhi-NCR

On the final day of the year, air pollution remains in the ‘Severe’ category across several cities.
In Delhi-NCR, the AQI crossed 400 at multiple locations, raising health concerns.
