India Signs Credit Agreement Worth US $ 24 Million with World Bank for Additional Financing for Uttarakhand Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project

The Joint Secretary (Multilateral Institutions), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Shri Nilaya Mitash and the World Bank’s Operation’s Advisor in India, Mr. Michael Haney signed the agreement on National Highway Interconnectivity Improvement project and Early  Accelerating Universal Access to Early and Effective Tuberculosis Care project , in New DelhiINVC,

An agreement for credit of US $ 24 million (equivalent) from World Bank for Additional Financing for Uttarakhand Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project was signed here today by Shri Nilaya Mitash, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India and Mr. Micheal Haney, Acting Director, New Delhi office, World Bank on behalf of the World Bank.

Similarly the Project Agreement was signed by Ms. Sowjanya, Additional Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation on behalf of the Government of Uttrakhand.

The objective is to improve the effectiveness of rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) services through decentralization and restore services of damaged schemes in the disaster affected areas in the State of Uttarakhand.

Project Components: The additional Component D on RWSS disaster Mitigation Activities will comprise of the following sub components: Component D1: RWSS Sector Development (US$ 0.50 million). Component D2: Reconstruction and Restoration (US $18.79 million). Component D3: RWSS Program Management Support and M&E (US $ 4.71 million).
