Strategic Partnership With Russia Is a Factor of Stability, Says S. Jaishankar

New Delhi, India — November 18, 2025:
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed that the long-standing India-Russia strategic partnership remains a major pillar of stability in international relations. Speaking at a policy forum, he emphasized that the bilateral relationship—rooted in trust, defense cooperation, and energy security—continues to play a balancing role amid shifting global power dynamics.

Jaishankar noted that both countries maintain “time-tested and mutually respectful ties,” strengthened through collaboration in areas such as defense production, crude oil supplies, nuclear energy, and technology. Discussions also touched on cooperation at platforms like BRICS, SCO, and the UN, where India and Russia frequently coordinate positions on global governance and security challenges.

He highlighted that despite growing geopolitical polarization, New Delhi and Moscow have preserved a pragmatic, interest-driven partnership. Jaishankar underlined that “strategic autonomy and multipolarity remain central to India’s foreign policy,” and the relationship with Russia complements this approach.

Officials from both sides are expected to meet again soon to advance ongoing projects, including joint defense manufacturing, long-term energy supply agreements, and regional security initiatives.
