New Delhi / Beijing : India has announced plans to fast-track business visas for Chinese professionals, signaling a constructive step toward stabilizing and improving bilateral relations between the two Asian giants. The move was welcomed by China on Thursday, reflecting growing diplomatic momentum following recent high-level engagements between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping.

Reacting to the development, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun described India’s decision as a “positive move,” noting that easier visa access would facilitate short-term business travel and enhance people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized that smoother mobility for professionals can play a key role in rebuilding trust and expanding economic cooperation.

Officials from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) indicated that the streamlined visa process is aimed at supporting legitimate business activity, especially in sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and supply chains. The initiative comes at a time when global trade dynamics are shifting, with the United States imposing fresh tariffs on Chinese goods.

Experts believe the policy could indirectly benefit India-China trade, as companies look to diversify partnerships and navigate geopolitical pressures. While challenges remain in the broader relationship, the visa facilitation measure is being viewed as a pragmatic step toward renewed engagement and economic collaboration.
