Baku : Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said that we cannot sit silently when France, India and Greece supply weapons to Armenia against us. He said that by doing this he is trying to prove it to us. We cannot watch this silently. Relations between Armenia and India have grown stronger in the last few years. Armenia recently expressed its desire to elevate bilateral relations with India to the level of strategic partnership. Armenia’s Labor Minister had said in an interview that I think our relations with India are so mature that they can be defined as a strategic partnership.
Last year a report said that France would also supply arms to Armenia. On this, the President of Azerbaijan had said that its decision to send military aid to Armenia could promote violent hostilities in the South Caucasus. Once again Azerbaijan’s President Aliyev has threatened. He has clearly told the Armenian government and the parties supporting it that if we see any serious threat to us, we will take strict measures.
India has diplomatic relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia. They are geographically important for their access to Russia and Europe via Central Asia and Iran. In 2022, India had signed a deal to supply Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, anti-tank weapons and ammunition worth $250 million to Armenia. This was the first export of Pinaka from India. Armenia supports India’s position on Kashmir.
It is noteworthy that Armenia and India are coming closer to each other because India is supplying arms to Armenia. Seeing this growing friendship, Armenia’s arch enemy Azerbaijan is shocked. Azerbaijan is a good friend of Pakistan, it has been supporting it on the issue of Kashmir. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said that France, India and Greece are providing arms to Armenia which are against Azerbaijan.
