Mr. R S Sharma, CMD, ONGC was conferred the Honorary CEPM – PMA Fellowship by Mrs. Sheila Dixit, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi at the 18th Global Symposium 2010 on 6th December at a glittering function organized at New Delhi. The theme of the symposium organised by The Centre for Excellence in Project Management (CEPM) and Project Management Associate (CEPM-PMA) was “Managing Infrastructure Projects and Lessons Learnt from the Best Practices from Asia Pacific Region”
under his dynamic stewardship as Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC.
On the Project Management front, Mr. Sharma was recognized as a leader par excellence for stewarding ONGC to commanding heights and making it known nationally and globally. His passion to bring scientific improvement has enabled ONGC for taking up and executing very large, complex and value intensive onshore and offshore projects.
Some other notable achievements for which Mr Sharma was recognized:
1. | ONGC Group of companies recording highest production of oil & gas in its history. |
2. | During 2009-10, ONGC accreting highest reserves in last two decades and the RRR(Reserve Replacement Ratio) consistently logging more than 1 during his tenure. |
3. | ONGC’s market cap exceeding for the first time in its history Rupees Three Trillion Mark on 15 Sept’2010 with net worth also exceeding for the first time the Rupee One Trillion mark on March31, 2010 |
4. | ONGC receiving the Gold Trophy for SCOPE Meritorious award for CSR from H. E. President of India |
Mr. Sharma said that ONGC’s recognition today is because of its talented workforce. He further added that for ONGC, Project Management is very significant as the company is presently implementing projects in excess of Rs 1 trillion rupees ie more than Rupees One Lakh Crore and underlined that the need for ‘commitment’ is extremely important when speaking of a complex project management portfolios like ours.
