Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, marking a significant moment for India’s women empowerment initiatives. The event celebrated 11 lakh new “Lakhpati Didis,” women who have achieved a significant financial milestone under the current administration’s efforts. Massive Financial Boost for Women’s Self-Help Groups
During the Sammelan, Prime Minister Modi released a Revolving Fund of ₹2,500 crore, which will benefit around 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Additionally, he disbursed ₹5,000 crore in bank loans, supporting 25.8 lakh members of 2.35 lakh SHGs. This substantial funding aims to propel women’s economic growth and stability across India. Since the inception of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, a remarkable one crore women have achieved Lakhpati status, with the government setting an ambitious goal of creating three crore Lakhpati Didis.
A Compassionate Address Amidst Tragedy
In his address, Prime Minister Modi expressed deep sorrow over a recent bus accident in Tanahun, Nepal, which claimed several lives from Jalgaon. He assured that the Indian government swiftly coordinated with Nepalese authorities and dispatched Union Minister Raksha Khadse to provide assistance. Special Air Force aircraft transported the deceased back to India, and efforts are ongoing to aid the injured. The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences and promised comprehensive support from both the Central and State Governments.
