Haryana Elections 2024: AAP Goes Solo, Announces 20 Candidates, No Alliance with Congress

AAP has ruled out an alliance with Congress for Haryana Assembly Elections 2024. The party released its first list of 20 candidates, setting the stage for a competitive battle.

New Delhi : There will be no alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for Haryana Assembly Elections 2024. Rejecting all speculations about the alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, Aam Aadmi Party has released its first list. Aam Aadmi Party has announced the names of twenty candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections and has fielded its candidates against 11 Congress candidates. Bijendra Hooda has been declared the candidate from Rohtak. Gurpal Singh will be the candidate from Narayangarh.

The party has fielded Anurag Dhanda from Kalayat. Jaipal Sharma from Gharaunda, Amandeep Jundla from Assandh have been given tickets. Bittu Pehelwan from Samalkha, Pawan Fauji from Uchana Kalan and Kuldeep Gadrana from Dabwali have been given tickets. Happy Rania from Rania, Indu Sharma from Bhiwani, Vikas Nehra from Meham, Kuldeep Chikara from Bahadurgarh, Ranbir Gulia from Badli and Sonu Ahlawat Sheria from Beri have been declared candidates.

Apart from this, Manish Yadav from Mahendragarh, Ravindra Matru from Narnaul, Bir Singh Sarpanch from Badshahpur, Dharmendra Khatana from Sohna and Ravinder Faujdar from Ballabhgarh have been given tickets. Jaipal Sharma from Gharaunda, Amandeep Jundla from Assandh have been given tickets. Narendra Sharma has been fielded from Pundri. 55-year-old Sharma joined AAP in the Lok Sabha elections and became a big face of the party in Pundri. He is close to state president Dr. Sushil Gupta and Anurag Dhanda.

He was the Irrigation and Water Resources Minister in the INLD government from 1996 to 1999. He is a big Brahmin leader in the area. He contested the election for the first time in 1996 as an independent and won. After this, he supported the Haryana Vikas Party and became a minister. Before this, he has been contesting elections continuously since 1996. He contested once from INLD and once from BSP. Apart from this, he contested as an independent. Anurag Dhanda, who is a candidate from Kalayat assembly, is a big face of AAP’s Jat community. Dhanda, who has done B.Tech, Mass Communication and Master’s degree in Political Science, is a senior state vice-president in AAP and is a native of Dhanauri village of Kalayat. He has been active in Kalayat area for the last two years. He is close to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. He has been handling the responsibility in Haryana as senior state vice-president since April 2023.

Indu Sharma, who became a candidate from Bhiwani, is MA Economics and B.Ed. She joined Aam Aadmi Party on 8 December 2021. Indu Sharma also contested the chairperson election in Bhiwani Municipal Council.

She is the daughter-in-law of former minister Dr. Vasudev Sharma, who has been active in politics for a long time. Indu Sharma has a good penetration among Brahmin voters. At the same time, this is Indu Sharma’s first assembly election. In which she will try to move forward on the basis of her family’s political experience. In Bhiwani, the direct contest is between BJP and Congress, while Aam Aadmi Party will also give a tough fight.

AAP has strategically chosen candidates with strong local connections and political experience to challenge both the Congress and the BJP in various constituencies. Indu Sharma, for example, comes with a strong political background as the daughter-in-law of former minister Dr. Vasudev Sharma. Anurag Dhanda, a senior state vice-president, is another prominent figure representing the Jat community.
