In a monumental move that cements India’s rise as a global technology hub, Google has announced a $15 billion investment to establish a massive Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data center campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
According to company officials, this will be one of Google’s largest global infrastructure investments, designed to power the next generation of AI research, cloud computing, and digital transformation across Asia.
“India is not just a key market — it’s the heartbeat of global innovation,” said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet. “This investment represents our long-term commitment to building an AI-first India.”
The proposed campus, spread over 500 acres, will host advanced computing clusters, renewable-powered data farms, and AI research facilities. Google aims to make India a “hub of responsible AI innovation” while supporting over 2.5 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
