Five years rigorous imprisonment to then development officer of united insurance company ltd for possession of disproportionate assets case

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) has sentenced Shri Jagdishchandra Bhagwan Raut, then Development Officer, United India Insurance Company Ltd., Divisional Office, Vapi, District Valsad (Gujarat) to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 20,000/- and his wife Smt. Hina Jagdishchandra Raut (Private Person and Agriculturalist) to undergo two years Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 20,000/- in a Disproportionate Assets case.

            CBI had registered the case on 31.08.2004  against Shri Jagdishchandra Bhagwan Raut, Development Officer, United India Insurance Company, Ltd., Divisional Office, Vapi, District Valsad on the allegations that the accused had acquired disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 46,01,786/- (255%) during the check period 01.01.1990 to 04.09.2004. Searches were also conducted at the premises of accused.

            After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 01.07.2009 against the accused and his wife.

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
