After a nine-year hiatus from Hindi cinema, heartthrob Fawad Khan is all set to return to Bollywood with a bang. The romantic-comedy film Abir Gulaal, directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, pairs the charming Pakistani actor opposite the ever-glamorous Vaani Kapoor — a duo already creating waves with their on-screen chemistry.

🎶 Arijit Singh’s Voice Meets Fawad’s Romance

The buzz intensified as the makers dropped the first track from Abir Gulaal on Monday. Titled ‘Khudaaya Ishq’, the romantic number is crooned soulfully by Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao. With music composed by Amit Trivedi and heartfelt lyrics by Kumar, the song oozes vintage Bollywood romance and brings back the tender charm Fawad is adored for.

The lyrics — “Lakh sitaron ki ek thi dua, dil pe tabhi to zor na chala…” — offer a poetic peek into the emotional heartbeat of the film.

🎬 When Is Abir Gulaal Releasing?

The film is set to hit theatres on May 9, marking a significant return for Fawad to Indian screens. The anticipation is palpable, not just because of his prolonged absence, but also due to the intriguing on-screen pairing with Vaani Kapoor.

⏪ A Quick Look Back: Why Did Fawad Leave Bollywood?

Fawad Khan’s last Bollywood appearance was in Karan Johar’s 2016 romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where he shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai. The film also featured another Pakistani actor, Imran Abbas.

However, following the Uri attack in 2016, India imposed an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists, cutting short the rising graph of actors like Fawad and Mahira Khan in Bollywood.

🎞️ Fawad’s Bollywood Journey: Short but Stellar

  • Khoobsurat (2014): His charming debut opposite Sonam Kapoor.

  • Kapoor & Sons (2016): A layered, critically acclaimed performance.

  • Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016): His last Bollywood project before the ban.

🌟 Will Bollywood Embrace Fawad Again?

With Abir Gulaal, Fawad’s return is more than just a comeback — it’s a test of Bollywood’s changing political and cinematic climate. Can nostalgia and talent override geopolitics? Only time and box office figures will tell.
