Farmers need to adopt natural farming: Acharya Devvrat

Governor Acharya Devvrat said that awareness among farmers about natural farming could only save the farm sector besides strengthening the economy of the farmers.

He was speaking in a Kisan Mela organized by gram panchayat Ram Saran Majra at Banen Block of district Kurukshetra in Haryana, today.

He said that now a days agriculture was not profitable business as cost of production increased manifold and farmers only took loan after loan in every crop. He added that water level decreasing sharply by using chemical fertilizers and as per the data it reached at 150 feet down in 30 years. “Barren land, and no water, what we will give to our future generation? We should think upon it”, said the Governor.

The Governor gave detailed information about zero budget natural farming and said that it was the only way to save the farm sector. He also explained difference with facts between chemical, organic and natural farming and appealed the farmers to adopt it to strengthen their economy. He said that more than 40 lakh farmers in South India have adopted natural farming and earning profit.

Acharya Devvrat said that six days training camp on natural farming was being held from 19 March to 24 March at Gurukul Kurukshetra. Padam Shri Dr. Subhash Palikar would impart training to the farmers on natural farming. He appealed the farmers to participate and take benefit of the camp.

Earlier, Shri Harikesh Saini, ex- chairman, marketing committee welcomed and honoured the Governor on the occasion.

Dr. Hari Om Agriculture Scientist briefed about the importance and usefulness of natural farming and said that as per the latest reports, it was the need of the hour to adopt natural farming.
