Government Lifts Export Ban on Animal Feed; De-Oiled Rice Bran Exports Now Allowed

Export Ban on Animal Feed Lifted

The Government of India has officially lifted the export ban on de-oiled rice bran, a key ingredient in the animal feed industry. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has revised the export policy for this sector from restricted to free, effective immediately.

This ban had been in place since last year and restricted exports of this essential commodity.

Exemptions for Bhutan

The government has also clarified that exports to Bhutan of certain agricultural products will continue without restrictions. These include:

  • Dairy products

  • Onions

  • Potatoes

  • Some vegetables

  • Rice

  • Wheat

These exemptions are effective immediately and will remain in place until further orders.

Significance for the Industry

  • Lifting the ban will benefit animal feed manufacturers

  • Opens up new market opportunities for exporters

  • Supports agricultural trade with Bhutan

Final Word

With the export policy now free for de-oiled rice bran, the animal feed industry can resume full exports, ensuring better supply chains and market growth. Farmers and exporters alike are expected to gain from this policy revision.
