Washington: The Jeffrey Epstein scandal has reignited global debate after House Democrats released newly obtained emails that allegedly reference  US President Donald Trump and other prominent figures. The disclosures have triggered fresh demands for transparency and investigation into Epstein’s network, with the hashtag #EpsteinFiles trending worldwide on social media.

According to committee officials, the newly surfaced correspondence spans 2010–2015 and contains exchanges between Epstein’s associates and several political and business figures. While the emails do not directly implicate individuals in criminal activity, lawmakers say they underscore the need for a complete release of Epstein’s communications and flight records to ensure public accountability.

“These records belong in the public domain, not locked in classified archives,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during a press briefing. “The American people have a right to know the full scope of Epstein’s influence network.”

The emails, part of a broader trove reviewed by the House Oversight Committee, reportedly mention Trump in scheduling contexts from the early 2000s, along with other high-profile names from politics, academia, and finance. Aides emphasized that inclusion in Epstein’s correspondence does not equate to wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Trump’s spokesperson dismissed the renewed attention as “political theater timed to distract from real issues,” reiterating that the former president “had no ongoing relationship with Epstein after the early 2000s.”

The renewed release has drawn attention from both legal experts and victims’ advocates, who argue that piecemeal disclosures risk fueling speculation unless full archives are declassified.

“Partial transparency only deepens mistrust,” said Lisa Bloom, an attorney representing several Epstein survivors. “The government must release the entire set of files to prevent selective interpretation.”

The scandal, which began with Epstein’s 2019 arrest on sex trafficking charges and his subsequent death in custody, continues to raise questions about the breadth of his social and political connections. Several investigations into his estate, associates, and financial dealings remain active across multiple jurisdictions.

As public pressure mounts, members of Congress are reportedly preparing a bipartisan motion to compel the Department of Justice to release remaining Epstein case materials under controlled conditions.

The episode underscores how the Epstein case remains a flashpoint in the intersection of politics, power, and accountability — even years after his death.
