Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Haryana, Dr K.K. Khandelwal has stressed for constructive and positive approach in journalism. He was speaking at Chandigarh Press Club on Wednesday after launching ‘Chandigarh Dinbhar’ the daily evening newspaper.
Financial Commissioner & Principal Secretary, Information & Public Relations Haryana, Dr Khandelwal said that there was need to pursue affirmative journalism as the people want to read quality & productive news. Newspapers should focus on institutional failures and weaknesses rather than targeting the individuals in personal capacity, he added. He called upon the Dinbhar team to take a novel & fresh outlook of journalism.
While congratulating the Dinbhar team for the initiative, Dr Khandelwal said that Chandigarh has lot of scope of news coverage as almost 70-80 pages news content is being published in different newspapers. The people do have lot of interest in local news and they want to read by evening of the same day. One is comparatively more relaxed in evening, he further added.
While speaking earlier, UT Finance & Public Relations Secretary, Mr Sanjay Kumar congratulated the newspaper team on launching. Chandigarh Mayor Anu Chatrath emphasized the importance of media and opposition in a democratic system. Dinbhar Media MD Mr Deepak Dhiman elaborated about the plans and vision of the newspaper group.
DIG UT Police Mr Mahabir Singh, UT Director Public Relations, Mr Manjit Singh Brar, Amartex chairman, Mr Arun Grover also spoke on the occasion. Various senior journalists and local entrepreneurs also present on the occasion.
