Display Glass Revenue Hits Record ¥270 Billion in Q3, Fueled by OLED Demand from Samsung and LG

Tokyo | November 5, 2025 — Business and Technology Update

The global display glass market posted a record ¥270 billion ($1.8 billion) in revenue for the third quarter of 2025, as booming OLED panel demand from major manufacturers Samsung Display and LG Display lifted orders across the supply chain.

According to preliminary data from industry trackers, the rebound in smartphone, tablet, and premium TV shipments drove double-digit growth for leading suppliers including Corning, Asahi Glass, and NEG.

💡 OLED Boom Drives Growth

The surge was primarily powered by next-generation OLED displays, which are being adopted in high-end devices and electric-vehicle dashboards.
Analysts say the trend reflects a broader shift from LCD to OLED and micro-OLED technologies, spurred by thinner form factors, energy efficiency, and enhanced brightness.

“OLED has become the industry’s preferred standard, and component suppliers are finally seeing profitability after years of capital investment,” said Takashi Ito, senior analyst at Techno Systems Research.

📊 Samsung and LG Lead the Market

  • Samsung Display accounted for nearly 45 percent of OLED panel demand, buoyed by strong Galaxy Z and S-series sales.

  • LG Display followed with roughly 30 percent, supported by higher TV panel exports and a push into automotive displays.

  • Chinese manufacturers like BOE Technology and TCL CSOT also reported quarterly gains as domestic brands upgraded to OLED models.

🏭 Supply Chain Strength and Challenges

While suppliers celebrated record shipments, some warned of tight glass substrate availability and rising input costs for specialty materials.
Companies are now investing heavily in automated glass-cutting lines and recycling processes to sustain output and margins.

The industry also expects demand to remain elevated through early 2026 as Apple, Sony, and Xiaomi expand OLED integration across product lines.

🌍 Market Outlook

Analysts project display glass revenue could exceed ¥1 trillion annually by 2026 if OLED adoption continues at the current pace.
Investors remain optimistic, though geopolitical risks, energy costs, and slower European demand could moderate growth in the next fiscal year.
