Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi, marks the beginning of Lord Vishnu’s divine slumber, starting the four-month Chaturmas period. According to the Hindu calendar, this sacred Ekadashi falls during Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month and is one of the most spiritually significant days for devotees of Lord Vishnu. Fasting, prayers, and charity on this day are believed to remove all sins and bring divine blessings.

📅 Devshayani Ekadashi 2025 Date & Timing

As per the Panchang, the Ekadashi tithi begins at 5:58 PM on July 5, 2025, and ends at 9:14 PM on July 6, 2025. Therefore, the Devshayani Ekadashi fast will be observed on July 6, 2025 (Sunday). Fasting and puja should be performed during the daylight hours of July 6 for the most auspicious results.

🪔 Devshayani Ekadashi Puja Vidhi: Rituals You Must Follow

  • Begin your day with a holy bath during Brahma Muhurat.

  • Wear clean clothes and take a vow (sankalp) to fast and worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

  • Light a diya (lamp) in your home temple.

  • Perform abhishek of Shri Vishnu using Gangajal.

  • Offer Tulsi leaves, seasonal fruits, flowers, and bhog (satvik food).

  • Complete the ritual by performing Aarti with devotion.

🛑 Important Note: Only satvik and auspicious (Swastik) items should be used for bhog offerings.

🙏 Spiritual Significance

Devotees believe that observing Devshayani Ekadashi with devotion helps eliminate past sins and brings peace, prosperity, and blessings from Lord Vishnu. The four-month Chaturmas begins from this day, during which no weddings or major auspicious activities take place in Sanatan Dharma.
