Delhi Nursery Admission 2026–27 Begins Across 1,753 Private Schools

New Delhi | December 4, 2025 :

The Delhi Nursery and KG admission process for the 2026–27 academic session begins today, December 4, across 1,753 private schools, as announced by the Directorate of Education (DoE). Application forms for the general category (75% open seats) can be submitted until December 27, either offline, online, or—new this year—through QR code-enabled forms offered by several schools.

Schools have already started making admission details available on their websites, with many opening help desks for parents to ease the application process.

Admission Methods Expanded: QR Code Forms Introduced

In a first, many private schools have adopted QR code-based form submissions, allowing parents to fill out applications directly using their smartphones.
At Vidya Bal Bhavan Senior Secondary School in Mayur Vihar Phase-III, Principal Dr. Satveer Sharma said QR codes and a help desk have been set up to streamline the process. Parents may also request a school tour after class hours.

The DoE has strictly instructed schools not to close the application window before the official deadline and to follow all guidelines without deviation.

Seat Distribution

  • 75% seats: General category, filled through the 100-point admission system, similar to last year.

  • 25% seats: Reserved for EWS and Disadvantaged Groups, with a separate application process.

    • KG/Pre-primary: 4–5 years

    • Class 1: 5–6 years

  • Proof of single-parent/divyang category, if applicable

Over 400 Private Schools Yet to Upload Admission Criteria

Despite repeated reminders, 438 private schools have not uploaded their admission criteria on the DoE portal.
Out of 1,756 schools, only 1,318 have complied so far.

District-wise pending uploads:

  • North East-1: 37 schools

  • West B: 87 schools

  • South West B-1: 10 schools

The DoE has warned that schools failing to upload their criteria by December 5 will have their admission process suspended.

This delay is causing confusion among parents who rely on the published criteria to plan applications.
