The worst recorded AQI was 461 on December 14, the highest in eight years for December. In response, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) was activated at Stage 4, the strictest level, in Delhi-NCR to combat the deteriorating air.

Authorities urge residents, especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, to limit outdoor exposure, wear protective masks, and avoid strenuous activities. The situation is expected to remain critical due to stagnant winds and ongoing local emissions.
