New Delhi – : Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is set to engage in significant bilateral talks with his counterparts from the United States and Germany in New Delhi. The talks, scheduled for June 5th and 6th, 2023, aim to strengthen defence cooperation between India and these two countries.
The US Secretary of Defence, Mr Lloyd Austin, and the German Federal Minister of Defence, Mr Boris Pistorius, will be visiting India for these high-level discussions.
The meeting with the US Secretary of Defence will mark his second visit to India, following his previous visit in March 2021. Secretary Austin is expected to arrive in New Delhi on June 4th from Singapore for a two-day visit.
The discussions between Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Secretary Austin will focus on a range of bilateral defence cooperation issues, particularly emphasizing industrial cooperation.
On the other hand, the German Federal Minister of Defence, Mr Boris Pistorius, will commence his four-day visit to India on June 5th. He will arrive from Indonesia and participate in talks with Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on June 6th.
In addition to the bilateral meeting, Mr Pistorius is anticipated to interact with defence start-ups during an event organized by Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) in New Delhi. Furthermore, he is scheduled to visit the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited in Mumbai on June 7th.
These bilateral talks hold immense significance as they aim to enhance defence cooperation between India, the United States, and Germany. The discussions will cover various areas of mutual interest, with a particular focus on industrial cooperation. The meetings provide a valuable platform for strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering collaboration in the defence sector.
