A criminal trial has begun in Delaware against US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden on three serious charges related to the purchase and possession of a revolver in 2018. If convicted, the maximum sentence can be 25 years in prison. Hunter Biden’s trial comes days after a Manhattan jury convicted former President Donald Trump. Hunter Biden arrived at a federal court in Delaware with First Lady Jill Biden for jury selection.

The trial is expected to last two weeks. He has been accused of providing false information in the form filled out while purchasing a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018. He had said that he does not take drugs. Also, he had illegally kept the gun with him for 11 days. He has pleaded innocent and has argued that he is being unfairly targeted by the Justice Department.

Hunter Biden is being prosecuted by David Weiss, a Trump-appointed attorney. He has been promoted as a special prosecutor by the Biden administration. President Joe Biden could pardon his son if he is convicted, but the White House has said he will not do so. Hunter Biden also faces tax-related charges in California. President Joe Biden has supported his son but has made no reported effort to influence or end his prosecution by the Justice Department.
