Haridwar / Dehradun – : According to the information provided, the number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dhams of Uttarakhand, namely Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, has exceeded 20 lakh (2 million). By June 4th, over 40 lakh (4 million) pilgrims had registered for the yatra. The Uttarakhand government has reported that approximately 7.13 lakh (713,000) pilgrims have visited Baba Kedarnath alone. To manage the crowd, online registrations for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra have been closed until June 15th.
The pilgrimage to the Char Dhams commenced on April 22nd. According to the tourism department’s report, on clear weather days, more than 60 thousand pilgrims visit Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dham collectively on a daily basis.
The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is considered highly significant for devout Hindus, as these four sacred sites are believed to cleanse one’s sins and provide spiritual enlightenment. The yatra attracts pilgrims from all over the country and even from abroad.
However, the massive influx of pilgrims has raised concerns about managing the crowd effectively and ensuring the safety of the visitors. Uttarakhand is known for its picturesque landscapes, but its infrastructure and resources can sometimes be strained due to the surge in tourists during peak seasons.
To address these challenges, the Uttarakhand government has implemented various measures. By temporarily closing online registrations for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra, they aim to control the number of pilgrims and avoid overcrowding at the holy site. This step allows them to assess the situation, make necessary arrangements, and ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience for the visitors.
Additionally, the government and local authorities are continuously monitoring the situation and taking steps to enhance infrastructure, provide medical facilities, and manage the traffic flow in the region. They are also promoting responsible tourism practices and urging pilgrims to follow guidelines to minimize their impact on the environment and maintain the sanctity of the sacred sites.
The Char Dham Yatra holds immense cultural and religious significance for millions of devotees, and the Uttarakhand government is committed to facilitating a memorable and fulfilling pilgrimage experience while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
As the yatra continues, it is crucial for pilgrims to stay updated with the latest information and guidelines provided by the authorities. This will help them plan their visit accordingly and ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching journey to the revered Char Dhams of Uttarakhand.
