A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) led by party president and Khadoor Sahib MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura on Saturday met Jathedar Akal Takhat Giani Harpreet Singh at his office and submitted him a charter of demands seeking action against the responsible for the demolition of Darshani Deodi(main entrance) of Gurdwara Darbar Sahin in Tarn Taran.
“Some people inconnivance with some officials and members of SGPC demolished Darshani Deodi with the help of armed goons on the night of March 30. This was very unfortunate incident which has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs across the world and those responsible for the demolition must be punished. We do not have much faith in SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak committee) that it would take stern action in this regard,” the delegation submitted.
“Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib has listened to us and has assured that he would form a high level committee from the Akal Takhat to probe the demolition incident and action would be taken accordingly,” said Brahmpura talking to the media after submitting the charter of demands. The delegation also submitted some photos in this regarding to the Jathedar.
Replying to a query by media persons that Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, head of the special investigation team (SIT) probing the Bargari sacrilege and Behbal Kalan incidents has been allegedly threatened ,Brahmpura said that honesty and integrity of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh cannot be questioned at all.”He is a lover of justice and Badals should resist from resorting to issue such threats to influence the SIT. We demand that probe should be allowed to go uninfluenced and repost should be released as soon as possible so that truth can come out,” said Brahmpura.
On the death of a person from village Bijliwal of Gurdaspur district, Brahmpura said that the sale of drugs is still going on in Punjab.”The sale of drugs has rather increased and congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh has failed to break the nexus between police and politicians in this regard. Drug supply cannot take place without this nexus and if government is sincere to stop it, it can be stopped within a week,” Brahmpura said replying to question by media.
Clarifying his stand about Paramjeet Kaur Khalra’s contesting Lok Sabha election from Khadoor Sahib, Brahmpura said that her name was never mentioned by the leader of Punjab Democratic Alliance Sukhpal Singh Khaira in any of his meeting with us.”Rather we had approached Paramjeet Kaur Khalra to make her nominee of our party, but she refused to enter politics,” said Brahmpura.
On the issue of directions by Jathedar Akal Takhat to SGPC that 550th Prakash Utsar(bith anniversary of Guru Nanak, yearlong celebrations from November 2019) should be observed by all Sikh institutions jointly irrespective of any differences , Brahmpura said that SGPC has not contacted his party in this regard.
”Only three persons Parkash Singh Badal, his son Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia know about the affairs of the SGPC as it is controlled by them.”SGPC works on their behest and you can rather ask these three how to act upon the direction of Akal Takhat Sahib in this regard,” Brahmpura said in a reply to the media.
SAD (Taksali) secretary general Sewa Singh Sekhwan and General JJ Singh Khadoor Sahib Candidate of the party, Former MLA’s Amarpal Singh Bony, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Advocate. Jagroop Singh Sekhwan and OSD to SAD (Taksali) president and MP Khadoor Sahib, Damanjeet Singh were also present during the submission of charter of demands.
